AT&T sues Verizon Wireless over 'misleading' 3G map Coverage Ads

AT&T is suing Verizon Wireless to stop its bigger mobile rival from using "misleading" coverage maps in advertisements that are causing AT&T to lose "incalcuable market share".

In October, Verizon Wireless launched an ad showing the white spots on the map were where you cannot get coverage.

AT&T argued that its costumers can use their wireless devises outside of the 3G areas, and the devises work in spots where Verizon Wireless' map says they can't.

AT&T's exclusive right to sell the Apple IPhone has helped the company gain market share from Verizon Wireless during the quarter ended in September. But since Verizon Wireless is campaigning these ads, it caused AT&T to lose market share.
Because Verizon Wireless is using white spaces on its own maps showing they have no coverage there, consumers are incorrectly interpreting the AT&T maps. They think the white spaces on the AT&T maps mean they have no coverage there at all, when they do have at least some coverage there.
